What's on in the village

Local Societies

The Hollingbourne community supports many active clubs and societies to appeal to a broad range of interests and age groups within the village. These aim to extract the value of the voluntary skills we have locally, for the good of the community as a whole, whilst providing value through social interaction and dialogue. Some groups may form solely for the purpose of addressing topical needs whilst others can be considered permanent, and are listed below:

Why not see what suits you?

  • Qualified Brownie Guider living in Hollingbourne is beginning to explore the possibility of setting up a Brownie Unit in the village.

Can you offer any help to bring a valuable group into our local community?  There are lots of ways you can help:

  • Become a Guider – training and support available
  • Become a Unit Helper (weekly, fortnightly) supporting experienced Guiders
  • Become a parent helper in a Unit (monthly, once a term)
  • Share a skill with the Unit, enabling girls to experience new activities
Or indeed help the unit with administration, finance or helping with individual trips
  • The Leeds Castle and Hollingbourne Garden Society, which has existed for more than a hundred years and has over a hundred members. The organising committee meets every six weeks and puts on shows in the Spring, Summer and Autumn. Look out for the banners around the village and check the What's On below.
  • The Pantomime Group produces every aspect of an annual pantomime, performed in the village hall. Rumour has it that it is just a good excuse to decamp to the pub after rehearsals but we are reliably informed that this is not possible, and the energies of this group are completely used up by the entirety of this aspects that the production entails: script, scenery, costume, lighting and rehearsals. Funds are donated by this group to augment the Village Hall's income. Watch out for the audition notices that are usually advertised around October/ November and put your best foot forward!
